Martin was originally a fifth round bantam selection of the Chiefs in the 2007 WHL draft.  Last season, Martin appeared in 27 games for the Big Country Energy Tigers in Medicine Hat in the AMHL and posted a 3.04 goals against and .902 save percentage.
