2011-2012 SPOKANE CHIEFS PROSPECTS

DEFENSE - Cole was listed after having a very strong training camp in August. Cole continues to grow physically as well as a player. He plays with a lot of grit and determination. Cole has a lot of upside. Cole plays midget but has also played as an affiliate with the Nelson Leafs Jr B, this will also help his game.

LEFT WING - Mitchell is a very well rounded player who can play both on the powerplay as well as be the first guy out on the penalty kill.  Mitch has elusive speed and is not afraid to attack using that speed. Mitch also has very good hands and scored quite a few highlight reel goals this season.

CENTER - Markson is a big, powerful kid who plays with a lot of grit and tenacity.  He is relentless on the puck and does a very good job with the puck when he gets it.  Markson is a good skater and is not afraid to attack with speed or play in the high traffic areas. He leads by example.

DEFENSEMAN - Colton played both forward and defense but will be looked at as a defenseman with the Chiefs.  Colton has very good puck poise and control and does a great job making plays from the back end. Colton is a good skater and is very confident in his mobility. Colton is a smart player and makes very good decisions.

RIGHT WING - Jacob was one of the most improved players throughout the year.  He is a skilled player who has very good hockey sense and vision.  As Jacob grows bigger and stronger, his game has as well. He is a good skater and handles the puck well at full speed.  He is creative with the puck and makes those around him better.

DEFENSEMAN - Kyle is a solid, hard nosed defenseman who plays hard and makes good decisions with the puck.  Kyle is always improving and starting to make good use of his bigger frame. He has good hockey sense and does well to start the offense with a good 1st pass. Kyle makes everyone in his offense zone accountable.

DEFENSEMAN - Corey is a very well rounded defenseman who can play the skilled game but can also be physical.  Corey plays with intensity and fire and is not afraid to step up and make the opposition pay. He is a good skater with good mobility.  Corey has good hockey sense and makes good decisions and outlet passes.

GOALTENDER - Thatcher is a confident goaltender that plays with poise and confidence.  Plays with a lot of focus and competitiveness.  Stays square to the shooters and is very good positionally.  Has a good size and will be even better when he gets stronger.

CENTER - Rhett is a very good combination of both size and skill. He is a good skater with deceiving speed. Rhett has a very good shot and is a threat to score every time he has the puck.  He has good hockey sense and makes very good decisions with the puck and away from the puck.

WINGER - Dustin had a very good camp but remained unlisted. After a great start to the season the Chiefs listed him. Dustin is a tenacious forechecker which helps to create offense for his team. He is a big kid who gets his nose dirty and is not afraid to shoot the puck from every angle. Dustin has the ability to be a power forward.

CENTRE - Adam was liked by area scouts in Vancouver and was later listed at the Macs Midget tournament. Adam is a very skilled player who creates offense every shift.  He has very good hands and is not afraid to take pucks to the net. Adam plays with a lot of passion and prides himself on leading his team offensively. He is a good skater that likes to attack defenders head on.

RIGHT WING - Kurt is a well rounded player, who plays with a lot of tenacity and compete. Kurt has a hard shot with a very good release. He is not afraid to play in traffic or play physically.  Kurt sees the ice very well and makes players around him better.  A character player that leads by example.

GOALTENDER - Garret was a list player with the hometown Tigers until he was taken off their list.  The Chiefs liked Garret and put him on their list right after. Garret is a poised goaltender who comes to play every night. He sees a lot of shots with his midget team and keeps them in a lot of games. He has very good mobilty and quick reflexes.

LEFT WING - Is a player in the power forward mold. Has the ability to play with skill and speed but also has the ability to play with force. Likes to be involved and plays well in traffic. Is a good skater and handles the puck well while in stride. Is very effective in the corners and along the boards.

 GOALTENDER - Plays with consistency and poise. Is known for his routines and superstitions but utilizes those to play big when it counts. Is a team leader. Is a real competitor. Battles for every puck. Plays big in the net. Always square to the shooter. Is a good sized kid with more room to grow.

CENTER - Justin is a very good combination of skill and grit.  He is the type of player that wears his heart on his sleeve and does whatever it takes to get the job done.  Justin is a leader both on and off the ice.  Justin loves to take pucks to the net and has a real nose for scoring goals. He is a good skater with an extra gear.

WINGER - Paul's strongest attribute is his ability to read the play and create offense through good vision and creativity. He has very good offensive instincts and can make those around him better. Paul is not a big player but is not afraid to play in traffic or outwork his opponents to gain scoring chances.

CENTER - Tanner has high end skill and vision. He is a good skater that has an extra gear and likes to really come at the opposing defenseman with speed. Tanner handles the puck very well at top speed and in traffic. He has great hands and makes everyone around him better through his vision and unselfishness.  He is a scoring threat whenever he is on the ice.

GOALTENDER - Trevor is a real big goalie who takes up a lot of the net. He is very quick for a big guy and gets across the net very well.  He shows great athleticism and compete when he is in the net.  He communicates well and battles for loose pucks. Trevor continues to improve and has huge upside potential.

DEFENSEMAN - Plays with a lot of compete and battle. Good skater with good mobility. Reads the play well and makes a good 1^st pass. Reliable steady defenseman who plays well in all 3 zones. Is good at getting pucks through to the net.

CENTER - Is quietly an effective player in both ends of the rink. Can score and also kill penalties. Sees the ice really well. Is a really good skater with good speed.

DEFENSEMAN - Is a very smooth skating defenseman. Has great mobility. Sees the ice well and makes plays in all zones. Played in a good program and knows how to win. Has a lot of puck patience and reads the play well. Has a lot of upside. Has grown a lot over the season, adding to his game.

 FORWARD - Is a very big package for a 1995 born player. Utilizes his frame very well.  Has good skill level. Will be a very  effective player as he gains more confidence and plays at a higher level.

CENTER - Is a very good compliment of size and skill. Is a good skater with good balance. Attacks the offensive zone with speed and power. Is tough to handle down in the offensive zone. Has a very good nose for the net and can score. Hard accurate shot.

DEFENSEMAN - Jeff is a late bloomer who is starting to come into his own as a defenseman.  He has a huge athletic frame and continues to improve. Jeff moves well for a big body and that will improve more as he grows into his frame. Jeff also brings a physical element to the game.
 

DEFENSEMAN - Daniel was listed right after Chiefs Fall camp. He is a defenseman with a large frame. He is a well rounded player that is good defensively as well as brings some offensive instincts to the game. Dan has come huge stride since his bantam draft year and continues to develop. For a big man, he is a very good skater with good feet. He is the brother of present Chief Cole Wedman.

RIGHT WING - Is a player with good size. Has a nose for the net and an ability to score. Has a great shot and not afraid to utilize in all areas. Sees the ice well. Is aggressive on the puck and not afraid to play in traffic. Is very effective when he drives to the net and uses his size and strength.
