For the third year in a row, the Spokane Chiefs and Comcast Cable have announced a television package that will air on Comcast Cable Channel 12. Nine games, six at home and three on the road, will air beginning on Saturday, November 3rd when the Chiefs host the Vancouver Giants.
In addition to the live broadcasts, each televised homegame will be available on Comcast ON DEMAND. Comcast will also produce “Chiefs Insider,” a magazine-style show that will be available on Comcast ON DEMAND. The games and the Chiefs Insider program will be available ON DEMAND within a few hours after the original broadcasts. They will remain ON DEMAND for the duration of the Chiefs’ season.
Spokane Chiefs Director of Public Relations Jay Stewart will handle play-by-play duties, with former Chief Captain and Assistant Coach Kevin Sawyer providing commentary for the home games.
For the second year in a row, Comcast will air games originating from the Tri-Cities when the Chiefs travel to take on their U.S. Division rival, the Tri-City Americans. As a part of the reciprocal agreement, three Chiefs-Americans games from the Spokane Arena will air on KVEW, the ABC affiliate in Tri-City.
ON DEMAND offers Comcast Digital Cable customers more control than ever before, with the ability to choose from movies, music, sports, news, instructional and entertainment programming and more, all with the functionality of a VCR.
Comcast launched ON DEMAND to its Spokane customers in 2005 and offers nearly 4,000 hours of programming ON DEMAND and expects to add thousands more hours of programming in the coming years. The service has become extremely popular, with Spokane customers viewing ON DEMAND programs more than 100,000 times a week, according to figures compiled by Comcast. Video ON DEMAND services are not available on satellite.
