Spokane Chiefs goalie Mac Engel picked up his first shutout of the season with 18 saves, and the Chiefs snapped a 4 game losing streak with a 3-0 win in Seattle Sunday night. Spokane now trails Vancouver by 3 points for 4th place in the Western Conference standings.
Dominick Uher got the Chiefs on the board with his team leading 25th goal of the year from Tanner Mort and Marek Kalus at 10:05 of the first period to give Spokane a 1-0 lead after one. The Chiefs outshot Seattle 17-4 in the period.
In the second, Collin Valcourt tipped a Corey Baldwin shot in for his 14th of the year at 13:45 to make it 2-0 Chiefs after two. Connor Chartier also assisted on Valcourt's tally. Liam Stewart would cap the scoring with a breakaway 1:24 into the third period. Stewart's 11th of the season was his 4th goal in his last 5 games.
Spokane will wrap up their 4 game road trip Friday night in Portland against the Winterhawks. Mike Boyle will have the call on 1510 KGA beginning with the pre-game at 6:30pm and the puck drop at 7:05pm from the Rose Garden.
